Sashimi Report: Final Installation
I’ve Finally installed it! It took several hours to get it to work with the projector that the art gallery provided, it turned out my primary hd port blew so I had to reconfigure my pc to route to a different port, luckily I had more than one HD connection. I mounted the wooden plank with drywall screws about ten feet above my installation, had to recalibrate the Xbox Kinect three times due to a height mismatch in the code, and then I mounted my Kinect to the plank with velcro, my new favorite material.
The biggest downside is that my corner of the gallery is still way too bright, despite the reassurances I received that it should be fine. Everything still shows up, it’s just a little washed out in comparison to my potato box prototype.
There is so much sand. This is going to be really heavy and awkward to uninstall, I plan on bringing seven or eight ten gallon buckets from Home Depot and a shovel to get it moveable. This should make each bucket weigh about fifty pounds, and I’ve definitely moved worse.
I have to show up early at the gallery to make sure it’s turned on and functioning properly, sometimes this requires a hard reboot of the system just to get rid of excess liquid simulation. There is a fine layer of sand surrounding my piece, but I’ll be sure to sweep up after removing it from the gallery.
